the shape of water, on view at Brickwork Art Studios in Burlington (VT), March 3 - April 1.
I've been interested the shape of water as an abstract image. Working in a building of artists studios, mostly printmakers and painters, I started to experiment with abstract 'painterly' photography. I am fascinated by the disorientating moment before the subject of the photograph is recognized, when It still a curved line, a saturated color, a texture, when the image is absorbed visually, without context. the shape of water exhibit is the culmination of a year or two of exploring these ideas, not typical of the work I've done to date, but a playful detour.
